Adding
another laurel to its list of attributes, Cagayan
de Oro (CDO) can also be aptly described as the
Wedding Capital of Northern Mindanao.
CDO is one of the host cities of the first Kasalang
Filipino 10-city bridal fair caravan in 2003,
thereby holding the first-ever wedding fair in
the region. It again showcased the best wedding
suppliers of the Mindanao region, together with
Davao, in the Kasalang Fiilipino 2005 run. And
on July 12-15, 2007, the City's local wedding
industry will be dressed up to its finest as it
represents Northern Mindanao for the third time
in Kasalang Filipino 2007 nationwide wedding fair
roadshow.
Locally dubbed
"Kasalan sa Kagay-an," the wedding fair will be
held at the Rotonda of Limketkai Mall and will
be opened to the public from 10:00am to 8:00pm.

Aside
from showcasing a wide array of wedding supplies,
the wedding fair will also have a photo exhibit
of the notable Philippine Churches in the region.
Ms. Armi Sobremisana of Professional Organizers,
Unlimited, the CDO leg's event organizer, shared,
"Our main objective in joining Kasalang Filipino
2007 is to promote the creativity and talent of
our local wedding suppliers, to-be weds in the
Region need not look somewhere else for the best
wedding supplies."

Etymologists traced back the origin
of "Cagayan" term from the Proto-Philippine
language.
In this language, "kagay" meant "river"
and "Kagay-an" meant "the place of
the river".

Making
the event as worthwhile as possible to its guests,
it offers free admission to everybody. And the
first 100 to-be weds to attend the event will
get a special token from the organizers.
There will also be a bridal make up competition
open to both professional and amateur make up
artists. Afterwards, bride-to-bes can learn make
up tricks from the experts at Ever Bilena, the
event’s official make up artist.
Various talks, fora on how to be financially and
legally prepared before getting married as well
as on how to prepare for their new home will be
held all throughout the event dates. Guest wedding
suppliers, on the other hand, can attend the seminar
on how to harness the power of the Internet for
their wedding business.
The last day will welcome guest speaker known
event stylist Henry Pascual, as he presents the
art of floral and event styling
to Kagayanons. A very special wedding fashion
