Finding
The Perfect Wedding Reception Venue
by
Wedding Planner, Vanessa Villanueva Now
that you have finally found the right person, let me help
you make that once-in-a-lifetime dream wedding a reality.
When selecting
a venue, there are many factors that should be taken into
consideration. The venue of your choice should match the theme
of your wedding, size of your guest list, time of reception,
type of cuisine, location of church or wedding ceremony site
and most importantly, your budget.
To help you find the ideal location for your wedding reception,
here are some important tips: |
Distance
Choose
a venue that will not require your guests to drive a
long way from the ceremony to the reception. Preferably,
the reception site should only be 15-30 minutes away
from your church. This will ensure that all your guests
will arrive on time.
For
convenience and to save on expenses, you may wish to
consider holding your wedding rites and reception in
the same venue. Good hotels provide complimentary table
for the officiating priest/pastor, kneeler and chairs
for the couple, parents and sponsors. Your budget for
the limousine service may also be used for your floral
requirements.
Time
Time, just like distance, is important. Try to start
the wedding reception program an hour or two after the
ceremony. And while

your
guests are waiting for you and the bridal entourage to arrive
from the non-stop pictorial, arrange a simple social
gathering and serve punch and cocktails. Take advantage of
this occasion to have both families get together and share
stories about your childhood.
Budget
Usually,
the wedding reception consumes the biggest share of your budget
but this is one of the easiest to trim down. It is
imperative for you and your fiancé to sit down, figure
out exactly what you want and make decisions together.
Set a realistic budget and stick to it. Do not concentrate
on finding a reception venue that offers the cheapest rate,
but rather, find the one which gives value for your money.
Some packages may seem to be inexpensive at first but if you
take into consideration all those things that you still need
to add on to the package, you may end up paying more than
expected.
Check
out a venue/hotel that offers almost everything that you need
for your reception, like wedding cake, flowers, entertainment,
doves, drinks, decors, etc. Some hotels even extend complimentary
accommodation for the bride and the groom. These will not
just give you additional savings, but will also lessen the
hassle of having to contact different suppliers. Also, choose
a venue that offers price difference for the children and
adults.

Consider
the meals of wedding vendors, such as the members of
the band, photographer, wedding coordinator, videographer,
make-up artists, etc. Make special arrangements with
the hotel for their food. These people can bloat your
expenses to another Php 20,000 or so. Make sure you
are prepared for these additional expenses.
|
|
Size
Make
sure that your reception hall can comfortably accommodate
your guests. Most reception venues will tell you it can
hold 300 people. With the entire set-up, this may not be
possible. If you are expecting 300 guests to attend your
wedding, make sure that the venue can cater to at least
330 to 350 guests, to accommodate possible overflow. An
ocular inspection of the venue before making your booking
is a must.

Experience/Customer
Service
In
an event like this, there is no room for blunder. It is important
to know the profile of the catering service. Check with your
friends or relatives if they have arranged or attended similar
events on your preferred venue and get their feedback.
Also, be observant
on how the event manager handles your inquiries. Ensure that
you are comfortable with him/her. He/she should be able to
communicate with you effectively. Furthermore, he/she should
be helpful and approachable and will do everything to meet
your deadlines. As early as your first encounter, you will
be able to asses the capability of the service provider. If
you are not satisfied with the way your inquiry was handled
, chances are you will be disappointed with their service
during the reception.. Look for a supplier who can deliver
personalized service, a supplier who goes beyond the call
of duty.
